Portugal. the Man released the new track “Champ” feat. Edgar Winter and With War. This song includes almost everything I’ve loved about the band since 2006: The voice, the groove, the breakdown, the surprise of radical politics. In this case it’s the #landback, indiginous rights interlude with anti-colonialist band With War and following riffage that probably surprised a lot of people who tapped their foot to Feel It Still at summer parties.
I’ve liked everything Portugal. the Man released, but I haven’t been this excited in a long time. Chris Black Saved My Life is out on 23 June 2023.
