Röysopp gave “Monument,” the marvelous first track off their mini-album with Robyn, an edit that moves it from the end of the night to dancefloor prime time. The Inevitable End is the inevitable beginning of the weekend.
Drew Daniel from Matmos is about to release a metal cover album with his side project The Soft Pink Truth. The album reimagines metal songs as rave and house tracks and, as Stereogum puts it, “comes together as a fascinating glimpse into the mind of Daniel processing being a gay fan of black metal."
The first track of the project, a cover of Venom’s seminal song, will probably annoy the hell out of your trve metal friends (and most other friends) but I think it is weird and awesome. Like most Matmos stuff.

This must be the very first time an instrumental techno/electro piece made it onto my Top 10 list. But I love this track. The catchy melody, the smooth groove – and it was the soundtrack to many wonderful hours spent reading on the balcony this summer.
James Blake released two new tracks today, Order (link) and Pan. They’re minimal, electronic, instrumental, reduced, experimental and hauting. They’re not as brilliant as ‘Limit to Your Love’ but well worth a listen.
