“I pass. I have owned my queerness, and in doing so, accepted it for what it is: a miracle.  A difficult miracle, like Musa’s. One that I didn’t ask for, had no choice but to receive. Sent from God, who has my back. God, who answered.”

Lamya H, a queer Hijabi woman, tells her coming-of-age and survival stay by drawing an stories in the Quran. The result is a fascinating memoir, deeply personal and political. What I found most engaging is how Lamya H connects her queerness and her faith, langua ge, culture, and family – a plexus that she protects by publishing under a pseudonym. Lamya H’s perspective and story is intriguing, I can recommend this one.
