125 years later, Native Americans may take back Wounded Knee
On Dec. 29, 1890 — 125 years ago Tuesday — federal soldiers descend on the Native American settlement near South Dakota’s Wounded Knee Creek and slaughter roughly 300 Lakota men, women and children. Now, one Native American business owner is in talks to put that land back into Native hands — but it won’t come cheap.
The crucial part of the land costs mere 3 million – a lot of money for one man/one group of people, but nothing within the context of US trust funds and charitable foundation (or the US budget.) This should be achievable.
