Louise Erdrich Wins National Book Award.

Awesome literary news: Louise Erdrich received the National Book award for The Round Housea book about violence against Native American women. Erdrich is the first Native American woman to win the award, of only about 15 women overall.

I haven’t read The Round House yet, but I have read Tracks, which I can highly recommend. I actually consider it required reading for people interested American literature/the United States. I’ve heard people compare Erdrich to Toni Morisson, and I think that’s quite accurate.
