Awesome literary news: Louise Erdrich received the National Book award for The Round House, a book about violence against Native American women. Erdrich is the first Native American woman to win the award, of only about 15 women overall.
I haven’t read The Round House yet, but I have read Tracks, which I can highly recommend. I actually consider it required reading for people interested American literature/the United States. I’ve heard people compare Erdrich to Toni Morisson, and I think that’s quite accurate.
