As recently mentioned on the Rachel Maddow Show, Congressman Ike Skelton, chairman of the Armed Services Committee, feels uneasy to discuss the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” because it might bring mommies and daddies around the US in the potentially (?) uncomfortable situation of having to explain what homosexuality is to their 7-year old kids. Whatever your stance on the DADT repeal or homosexuality is, I think that as soon as a child is old enough to know what the Armed Services Committee, the military in general, is there for, it’s old enough to know that homosexuality exists. I would rather explain to my kid that there are men/women who love men/women like daddy loves mommy, than to explain to them that there are mommies and daddies whose job it is to (train to) blow up other moms and dads.
